This study aims to explore the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model in Biology for Grade X at SMA Negeri 5 Medan in the academic year 2024/2025. It was conducted in February - May 2025. This study used a qualitative method with two teachers and two classes of grade X students as subjects. The data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The analysis focused on five components of PBL syntax: problem orientation, organizing students to investigate, guiding individual and group investigations, developing and presenting artifacts, and analyzing and evaluating the problem-solving process. The findings showed that Teacher II implemented the PBL model effectively across all its syntaxes, supported by structured planning, the use of relevant media (e.g., videos, PPT), and reflective evaluation. In contrast, Teacher I faced challenges, particularly in group formation and limited facilitation during the inquiry and reflection stages, which affected student engagement and collaboration. Despite these obstacles, both teachers successfully implemented the PBL model in general. This study concludes that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in biology learning for grade 10 at SMA Negeri 5 Medan has been running well, as indicated by the alignment between design and implementation, as well as activities that align with the PBL syntax. However, the third and fifth syntaxes are not optimal and need improvement.
