Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the integration of humanistic and digital approaches in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), despite its significant impact on curriculum development in the context of Society 5.0. The study aims to design an adaptive PAI learning model that harmonizes human values with digital competencies, aligning with the educational demands of the 21st century. The research adopts a qualitative design with a case study approach, involving 5 Islamic secondary schools selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected using in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the integration of digital tools (e.g., LMS platforms, gamified apps) with humanistic pedagogical values (e.g., empathy, critical thinking, and moral reasoning) results in a more engaging and transformative learning experience. This aligns with the research objectives and supports the constructivist learning theory and humanistic education framework. The study concludes that a humanis-digital model plays a critical role in forming adaptive, spiritually rooted, and digitally literate learners in the Society 5.0 era. The implications encompass theoretical contributions, such as advancing the literature on holistic Islamic education, and practical recommendations for educators and curriculum developers to implement flexible, value-driven digital pedagogies. Additionally, this study identifies future research opportunities on evaluating the long-term impact of this model on students’ character and digital behavior.
